A TINY NEW BUILDING WILL HELP KEEP THINGS
FLOWING IN ST. PAUL’S
You have heard of the new homes planned near the Downtown Transit Center as part of the St. Paul’s Area Transformation. To keep things moving from the homes and businesses through the sanitary sewer system, a new pump station must be constructed across the street from the development.
In 2021, the Department of Utilities will construct a new sanitary sewer pump station located at 526 Fenchurch Road . The new pump station will move nearly 800,000 gallons a day of domestic and business wastewater to the Hampton Roads Sanitation District (HRSD) facilities for appropriate treatment.
“The collection and treatment of wastewater is vital to public health and clean waterways,” said Gabriel Phelps, P.E., Utilities’ Project Manager for the new pump station.
Phelps says the Department of Utilities looks forward to completing this project which will enhance wastewater service for years to come.
